Anointing of the Sick is the sacrament which, through the anointing with blessed oil by the priest, and through prayer, gives health and strength to the soul; and sometimes to the body of a person whose sickness, accident, or old age carries with it some danger of death.
Is any one among you sick? Let him bring in the priests of the Church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. (James 5:14)
If anyone is in proximate danger of death, do not hesitate to contact a priest at any time of day or night. For those who will be undergoing major surgery, it is suggested that they contact the Parish Office (845) 268-4464 to have a priest anoint them.
Also, if you (or a family member) are admitted into Nyack Hospital, please tell them that you (they) are Roman Catholic and a parishioner of St.Paul and St. Ann’s Church in Nyack. The hospital will then alert us to the fact that you (or a family member) has been admitted into the hospital.
