Thank you to everyone who attended our town hall meeting on December 7th. We are working diligently to keep you informed and engaged in the MATN process and any potential impact it might have on St. Ann's.
As you may know, there was some press about MATN earlier this week. We are attaching the links here:
In an effort to avoid any potential confusion, we would like to remind you of a few important things that we discussed during the town hall:
1) St. Ann's is NOT closing.
2) We have been asked by Cardinal Dolan to CONSIDER a PROPOSAL that suggests a potential union between St. Ann's and St. Paul's. Masses and sacraments would continue to be celebrated at St. Ann's.
3) NO FINAL DECISION HAS BEEN MADE.
As we also discussed, our next steps are:
1) The St. Ann's core team will continue to deliberate the proposal / suggest alternatives.
2) We will meet with St. Paul's core team in early January to discuss preliminary recommendations.
3) We will meet with Cluster 56 (St. Paul's, St. Francis, St. Anthony's, St. Augustine) on January 17th.
4) We will meet with Cluster 58 (St. Aidan's, St. Margaret's, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, St. John's, St. Catherine's) in late January.
5) We will meet with both clusters jointly in early February.
6) We will submit a formal response to the proposal March 1st.
Thank you for your continued support as we navigate this important work. We will of course continue to recommend what we think is best for a vibrant, sustainable future for our St. Ann's parish and community.
Please feel free to reach out to any of us on the St. Ann's core team with additional questions.
