Food Cupboard

The Food Cupboard is an ongoing program at both Churches of the St. Paul and St. Ann’s Parish.  At St. Ann's the Food Cupboard is open year round on Saturday mornings for grocery distribution (8:00 –10:30 am at St. Ann’s School Cafeteria). The purpose of the program is to distribute emergency food to individuals and families, helping to fill in the gap, when monthly income does not cover all expenses.

Volunteers serve individuals and families who live within the Nyacks (Nyack, South Nyack, Upper Nyack, Central Nyack) and proper identification is required. Individuals who come for food items are provided with several bags of groceries along with a caring environment.

From May through October, our Marydell Garden of Faith provides an abundance of freshly picked produce.

Basic food items come from several grants including the Regional Food Bank of NY as well as donations from St. Ann’s parishioners. 

The need for food donations is ongoing throughout the year.  Non-perishable food items may be donated to the Food Cupboard by leaving them in the basket provided in the back of the Church.

You can help by sharing your skills, talents and time.  New volunteers work with experienced workers. This is a rewarding opportunity to meet new friends while helping our neighbors. Here’s how you can help:

• Stock Food Cupboard Shelves.


• Join a team or become a substitute to help SAFC guests select their food items in our new "Client Choice" Cupboard.


• Distribute food and/or help patrons carry grocery bags out of the building.

Food Donations:
The demand for our Food Cupboard continues to grow and the supplies are depleted regularly.  Every week, we depend on donors to bring the following basic items:

• Cereal or Oatmeal
• Pasta – 1 lb. packages of spaghetti or other types
• Pasta Sauce
• Macaroni & Cheese – boxed mixes
• Peanut Butter
• Dry beans
• Rice
• Tuna Fish
• Canned Fruits or Vegetables
• Canned Meat – Beef Stew or canned chicken
• Cooking Oil in Plastic Bottles
• Fruit Juice in Plastic Bottles or cans
• Parmalat or Powdered Milk

Thanksgiving Donations Needed for our Thanksgiving Baskets:

• Turkeys (if you qualify for a Free Turkey from ShopRite)
• Boxed Stuffing
• Boxed Instant Mashed Potatoes
• Canned Yams/Sweet Potatoes
• Vegetables
